2025 Message from the Executive Director
A Year of Resilience, A Path of Tenacity: Thank You for Making a Difference
Champions of the mission of The Landing MN,
As the Executive Director, I am writing to express my sincere gratitude for your unwavering support throughout this past year. Your generosity and compassion have been instrumental in empowering our organization to serve individuals experiencing homelessness. Each day we open our doors to this community and work to help each person we meet take steps toward stability and housing. This year has truly been a year of progress, struggle, and overwhelmingly, a year filled with beautiful moments of connection and resilience.
This year, thanks to your contributions, we have achieved significant milestones:
1,364 unique individuals were served at The Landing MN day center in 2024
41,927 total visits were made by guests to The Landing MN Day Center in 2024
Through support of a grant through MDVA and the advocacy of volunteers (who secured funding from their community connections) we were able to purchase a minivan that filled in a gap in services across our community spectrum of resources for those experiencing homelessness. This minivan ensures that clients will not miss out on housing, employment, or medical intervention opportunities due to a lack of transportation.
We expanded our array of medical services to include partnerships with Active PT who provide physical therapy to clients of The Landing MN to regain and grow mobility and reduce pain from long standing injuries.
We successfully advocated for policy changes that led to the development of a community response to homelessness. A group called Any Path Home was created with a mission that every resident of Olmsted County has a home.
These accomplishments are a testament to the power of your compassion and the impact of your support. Every dollar donated, and every minute volunteered make a tangible difference in the lives of those we serve. Your contributions provided vital support for:
Our emergency Daytime Shelter program, which provides safe shelter, access to basic needs resources necessary for survival, and connection, for individuals experiencing homelessness every day of the year. A community approach where guests are known and valued.
Our Social Services department, which connects with guests to work toward individual goals, creating tangible steps out of homelessness and toward stability. Ensuring all guests receive the resources available to them to help expedite their journey toward housing.
Our Medical Clinic, which includes the many wonderful volunteer physicians, physical therapists, medical students and other medical providers who give their time to help meet the immediate medical needs of each individual guest, while also creating plans for preventative and long-term interventions.
Looking ahead, the challenges facing individuals experiencing homelessness remain significant. However, with your continued support, and a sense of Tenacity we can continue to make a lasting impact. We are committed to:
Strengthening our partnerships with other community organizations to create a more comprehensive system of support for individuals experiencing homelessness. An example from this past year was our involvement in the Any Path Home coalition, wherein local non-profits, as well as city and county partners created a plan toward ensuring every resident of Olmsted County has a home.
Advocating for systemic changes that address the root causes of homelessness. Our resilient spirit will remain at the heart of our tenacious approach toward policy change. It will never be enough to simply respond to problems born of bad systems. We are committed to going upstream to meet the problems where they begin, and advocate strongly for policy change.
Your continued support is essential to achieving these goals. We challenge each of you to consider the ways you can become involved to support our friends and neighbors experiencing homelessness; while reflecting on all the ways you’ve supported this community throughout this past year. Your passion and generosity will help us continue to provide hope and support to individuals in need.
Thank you again for your compassion and commitment to making a difference.
With fortitude,
Alexander Hurlebaus, LGSW
